Young Architect Guide: 10 Ubiquitous Projects Encountered in Architecture School

It’s no secret that architecture school can be a rigorous endeavor. Ask a graduate, and they will tell you how the demanding coursework and fast-paced production environment that they experienced helped them develop their design skills and become a professional.

Specifically, the journey that is architecture school involves navigating a shared, universal sequence of design prompts that serve as a rite of passage for aspiring architects across the globe. These prompts, from abstract conceptual modeling to complex public buildings, are steps on the path to mastering the fundamentals of space and form.

From the most common assignments like “The Cube” and projects like “The Artist’s Residence” to studio milestone projects like “The Hospice,” there is an enriching set of assignments that students will encounter on their architectural education journey. 2024 Student Showcase Call for Projects

For the last five years, Study Architecture has put out a call to architecture school faculty from around the world to nominate graduating students whose work exemplifies excellence in architectural education. This year, we invite you to submit your student’s most impressive work to be featured in the 2024 Fall Student Showcase on Study Architecture’s website and social media.

Submission deadline: July 1, 2024

We hope by sharing a glimpse into what architecture students create while in school, more students will begin to take an interest in the architecture field and potentially apply to a program that appeals to them. Architecture is a broad field and we are excited to highlight the many unique aspects of design that are submitted.
